Dr. Brad Swisher
Dr. Brad Swisher was born and raised in South Charleston, West Virginia. He graduated from South Charleston High School International Baccalaureate Program. He attended West Virginia Wesleyan College and received a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Chemistry. Dr. Swisher also took many computer science classes to gain knowledge in his interest in technology.
Dr. Swisher is an Honor graduate of West Virginia University Doctor of Dental Surgery Program. His philosophy is based on preventive dentistry and patient education to achieve optimal oral and general health. He has had the opportunity to experience a wide variety of new technology currently being introduced into dentistry. He is enthusiastic about offering the best possible treatment for patients based on their own individual needs. As a general dentist, he is currently practicing comprehensive family dentistry. He is devoted to advanced training and attends the best continuing education courses.
Dr. Swisher received several awards in Dental School: The Sabe Issac Howard Memorial Scholarship, Best of the Best Whip Mix Prosthodontics Award, President of Dental Class, Honors Program, and graduated in the top percentage of his class. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Charlottesville Albemarle Dental Society, and the Shenandoah Valley Dental Society.
Dr. Swisher loves the outdoors. He is an avid snowboarder and motorcyclist. He enjoys spending time with his family and Boxer “Zoey”. Dr. Swisher spent most of his childhood going on fishing trips and spending time near the beach.
Dr. Katy Brandt
Dr. Katy Brandt was born and raised in Des Moines, IA and relocated to Charlottesville in 2014. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, with a degree of Doctorate of Dental Surgery. She also completed her B.S. in Psychology at the University of Iowa.
She received Public Health certificate during dental school and enjoys participating in community outreach. She also received several leadership awards for her work with the Iowa American Student Dental Association. She is currently a member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, and the Charlottesville Albemarle Dental Society.
Dr. Brandt practice philosophy is centered around patient care, with open communication and a focus on prevention, in addition to treatment. She is a general practice dentist. She is excited to be a part of the Charlottesville dental community!
Dr. Brandt enjoys traveling, working on projects around her new home, and watching Hawkeye football.
Dr. Mark P. Sapon
Dr. Mark Sapon is a graduate of West Virginia University where he earned a B.S. in Biology and then a Doctorate of Dental Surgery from West Virginia School of Dentistry.
He is a member of the American Dental Association, The Academy of General Dentistry, and Charlottesville-Albemarle Dental Society.
His primary focus in practice is providing quality dental care in a gentle, comprehensive manner with an emphasis on positive and caring patient relationships.
He enjoys playing golf, watching WVU football and basketball, and spending time with his wife Meaghan and their two boys, Mason and Landon.
Dr. R Scott Knierim
Dr. R. Scott Knierim is an honor graduate of West Virginia University School of Dentistry with a degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery. He and his wife Karen moved to Charlottesville in 1976 and raised two sons, Hunter and Erik. Dr. Knierim is a career-long member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, the Charlottesville and Albemarle Dental Society. He practices comprehensive general family dentistry.
His special interest in dentistry revolves around prevention and patient education to achieve and maintain a high level of dental health. He is proud that many families have become his patients and have been with him for decades. Dr. Knierim has other strong interests which include international adventure travel, photography, fishing, old style construction techniques with stone masonry, timber frame design, blacksmithing, and water well drilling.
Ashlee was born and raised in the hometown of the most famous groundhog the world has ever known- Punxsutawney, PA. She then moved to Surfside Beach Sc and attended Horry Georgetown Technical College where she received her Associates Degree in Science and Dental Hygiene in 2005. Ashlee returned to Western PA where she began her career as a dental hygienist and in 2016 relocated to Charlottesville. Outside the office, Ashlee loves caring for the animals in her life, spending time with her family and friends, gardening, and trying new recipes in the kitchen.
Betsy, a Charlottesville native, graduated from Radford University with a B.A. Business Administration in 2003 and Old Dominion University with a B.S. in Dental Hygiene. Betsy enjoys working with patients in her hometown and creating new friendships along the way. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Rob, dog, Bailey, and family.
Dawn graduated in 2003 from VCU Medical College of Virginia with a B.S. in Dental Hygiene. The field of hygiene intrigued Dawn due to role oral wellness can play in systemic health. She takes pride in improving her community's dental care. Outside the office you can find Dawn enjoying photography, running and spending time with her son, Bishop, and husband, David.
I was born and raised in a small town one hour South of Chicago. I attended Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and renewed my bachelor of science in dental hygiene in 2009. Afterward, I moved to Northern Va, where I worked as a hygienist and rock climbing instructor before moving to Charlottesville in 2014. In my free time I enjoy traveling, cycling, gardening, and exploring the area. On the weekends from May – October I can usually be found at different venues photographing weddings. In between all that I raise chickens and plan out my future adventures.
Mandy is a native of Gordonsville, VA. She got her start in dentistry as a dental hygiene assistant in 2003. She graduated from Bridgewater College with a B.S. in Allied Health Science in 2005, and from East Tennessee State University with a B.S. in Dental Hygiene in 2008. When not working, Mandy enjoys spending time with her husband, Scottie, his two children, Kylie and Kolby, and their dog, Roxanne. Mandy loves exploring the outdoors, traveling, or at her local church.
Charis was born and raised in Charlottesville. She has been a dental assistant for five years. She is Dr. Sapon’s right-hand lady in the office. In her free time, she enjoys laying by the pool, playing with her dog, and cruising around town in her stylish white and pink jeep.
Julie has been a dental assistant for 10 years. She loves the patient interaction and learning new things every day. When she is not assisting Dr. Swisher she can be found on the sidelines of her boy’s soccer, baseball, and football games. She also loves to improve her culinary skills and trying out new recipes on her family.
Olivia grew up in Northern Virginia and moved to the Charlottesville area about ten years ago. She has been with the practice since 2016. You can find her running around the office, putting a smile on patient’s faces. Olivia currently lives in Louisa County with her fiancé, Travis, and bulldog, Tank. She enjoys spending time at the gym, with her family, and at church.
Stacy, Office Manager
Stacy grew up in Charleston, West Virginia. She earned her B.S. in Finance and Accounting from Shepherd University, as well as, an M.A. in Business Administration from the University of Charleston. Stacy and her family moved to Charlottesville in 2010. She is a CPR and First Aid instructor. She loves spending time with her family, traveling, scuba diving, whitewater kayaking, camping, and fishing.
Mary, Scheduling Coordinator
Mary graduated from Charlottesville High School. She attended Piedmont Virginia Community College to study business management. She has been with the practice since 2011. Mary has great communication skills and is always doing her best to make sure that our patients are scheduled and informed. She enjoys reading, crafting, and spending time with her daughter and three dogs.
Katrina was born in Bad Kissingen, Germany. She has been with the practice since 2016. Katrina was inspired to pursue a career in dentistry after working as a veterinarian animal health assistant for eight years. Katrina handles all insurance claims and questions you may have. In her spare time, she enjoys projects as a new homeowner.
